Future Energy Leaders (FEL) Finland is a programme established in February 2021 for young energy experts who want to take the lead on the change.

What is Future Energy Leaders Finland

Future Energy Leaders (FEL) is a programme that connects young energy experts with diverse backgrounds. The program aims to bring new perspectives to the energy sector and support the members on their path to becoming Future Energy Leaders. Approximately 30 selected members participate in the programme for one to three years and new members are enrolled annually. Currently, the program is ongoing for its second year and has 32 active members!

“The group that has been gathered together consists of awesome individuals ”

  • Markus Ovaskainen, Merus Power Oyj, a member of FEL Finland since 2021

The main target of the program is to interconnect young professionals in the energy sector with different backgrounds, bring fresh ideas to the energy sector and support their career progression and improve the leadership skills of the participants.

“It’s been nice learning about the energy industry from different perspectives and listening to experts, including ourselves, on various subjects.”

  • Anna-Leena Hetemäki, Helen Oy, a member of FEL Finland since 2021

FEL Finland operates under World Energy Council (WEC) Finland. FEL Finland is managed by an executive committee consisting of five FEL members. They are responsible for planning and organizing activities together with the program members as well as reporting to WEC Finland.

What we are doing

The programme’s main activities are workshops and mentoring which enable sharing expertise, discussing solutions for challenges in the energy sector, and practicing leadership skills. Discussions and group work are essential parts of the meetings. Thus, active participation is required to get the most out of the programme.

The final programme activities are developed in cooperation with the members. The activities are organized approximately once a month as a live session or virtually and the mentoring meetings are organized once a month during a six-month period.
