World Energy Outlook 2025 -webinar

The World Energy Outlook (WEO) is the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) annual publication that analyses global energy trends and possible pathways for the future energy system. Updated each year, it examines developments in energy demand, supply, technologies, and policies, and assesses their implications for energy security, emissions, and economic growth. The WEO 2025 explores how the global energy transition is progressing amid rapid technological change and shifting policy priorities. It highlights the growing role of clean energy, the gradual decline of fossil fuels, and the increasing importance of energy efficiency and grid resilience.

The WEO 2025 places a strong focus on energy security in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment. It highlights vulnerabilities in critical mineral supply chains — with China currently the dominant refiner for 19 of 20 key energy-related minerals — and warns of growing risks to electricity systems from extreme weather, cyberthreats, and other disruptions. The report describes how the world is entering an “Age of Electricity,” as demand grows by around 40% by 2035, driven by electrification in transport, industry, and buildings.

Join us to hear Thomas Spencer, Senior Energy Analyst at the IEA, present the key findings of the World Energy Outlook 2025. The presentation will be followed by a discussion with Riku Huttunen, Director General, Energy Department, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland, and Jukka Leskelä, CEO, Finnish Energy (discussion held in Finnish).
