Power capacity in the Nordics: With Fingrid and Vattenfall

European power markets are witnessing some turbulent times – power prices are at record low levels. In the Nordics, annual power consumption has been stagnant over the past few years but the need for capacity hasn’t changed. Most commentators say that worries over security of supply are unfounded.

However, Vattenfall recently announced that its nuclear fleet is facing an early closure. How likely is this development and how serious would it be for Finnish security of supply and the market’s stability overall?

WEC Finland is organizing a breakfast seminar with Jukka Ruusunen, CEO of Fingrid and Torbjörn Wahlborg, head of generation at Vattenfall. The event will be chaired by WEC Finland’s chairman and CEO of Pohjolan Voima, Mr. Lauri Virkkunen.

Breakfast will be served at 8.30 and discussion will begin at 9.00.
